Wednesday’s character played by Jenna Ortega. The series has reached the record to throne stranger things at first week of release. What’s so special about Wednesday?
- Dare to be different
The Addams family is a unique family with any kind of their weirdness. Wednesday is an unusual whimsical teenager with dark gothic taste in her style. She has her own way of enjoying life. She dares not to be the same as others. When everyone is addicted to social media, Wednesday doesn’t even use a phone. She proclaimed that social media is soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation. It makes the show interesting. It’s okay to be different.
2. She stands up for bullying.
Wednesday might seem sadistic but ultimately she cares for others. In the show, she becomes a friend of Eugene Ottinger. Eugene is an outcast from the outcast. He remains alone in his hive extracurricular and Wednesday chooses to be his only friend. On outreach day, Eugene is bullied by normie who hates the outcast. Wednesday stands up for him when nobody cares about Eugene. She said Eugene reminds her of her brother who’s soft and weak. Even though she’s a spicy girl, she can be good to her friends.
3. Letting go of external validation
When the world strives for perfection, she becomes the real one. She doesn’t need anyone to like her. She doesn’t care even if someone hates her for being different. She doesn’t need validation from anyone. Her life doesn’t have to make sense for anyone else. We don’t need someone’s else validation to do our own thing.
4. She’s brave and independent.
When everybody doesn’t care about the monster who has killed many people. Wednesday was the only person who braves to unravel it. Wednesday who is brave enough to fight the undead Joseph Crackstone. Taking an arrow that Xavier Thorpe threw at him. Not every young woman can do that. Standing strong, investigating, and fighting, not every girl can do that. When every other girl doesn’t want to be alone, she’s comfortable with being alone. ‘solitude suits me’, she said. Wednesday shows us not to depend on someone else.
5. Follow your own path.
Wednesday certainly has no interest to follow her mother’s path like becoming captain of fencing, and president of seance society. She chooses to be a writer for a serial killer story. Pursuing her own thing even though her psychic ability was coming from her mother but she does it differently than just a seer. In the end, she used her psychic ability to stop the undead Joseph Crackstone together with other students at nevermore from being destroyed. Never be afraid to follow your own path, instinct and step out of your comfort zone. It might lead you to something beautiful or the greatest of yourself.
